Frequently asked questions
What is the Netquor backbone?
The Netquor backbone is a network operated by Netquor Technologies as AS403008, with points of presence in Chicago, Dallas, New York and Kansas City. IPaaS static IPs are routed to the closest PoP, and latency from Fargo to Chicago starts at 24 ms. A Fargo PoP is coming soon.
What is All Source Hosting?
All Source Hosting is a crowd-sourced hosting marketplace built by Netquor Technologies in Fargo, ND. Homelab owners sell spare Proxmox capacity, and buyers rent VMs sized to their needs, with a choice of hosts by power backup, fiber and failover links.
How do I sell my homelab capacity?
Install the open-source Netquor SDN Agent, deploy a VyOS virtual router, get your networking certified by a Netquor Engineer, then list your host. You keep 88% of every payment.
Who certifies hosts?
Every host is certified by a Netquor Engineer before it appears on the marketplace. The agent produces a read-only report of your Proxmox and networking setup for the engineer to review.
Can I run a server for Minecraft or other apps?
Yes. The Apps catalog has prebuilt images such as Minecraft, Valheim, WireGuard, Docker, Jellyfin and Nextcloud that you can deploy on any host with room.
Do you serve the Fargo-Moorhead area?
Yes. All Source Hosting is based in Fargo, ND and is growing across the Midwest, with local labs in Fargo, Moorhead, Grand Forks and Minneapolis. Hosts can also link up with peers in their city.
Open source. Full transparency.
The SDN Agent that runs on your node is open for anyone to read: about 600 lines of Go, standard library only. It talks only to your own Proxmox API. Read it before you run it.
Launch it in one click
How it works
Connect Proxmox
Create a scoped API token and a cloud-init template. Set how much of your node you'll share.
Install the Netquor SDN Agent
Build the small Go agent, point it at Proxmox with a scoped API token, and run its preflight checks.
Deploy your VyOS router
One agent command creates the VyOS VM and writes a ready config: DHCP, NAT, firewall, optional WireGuard.
Choose your connectivity
DIY WireGuard, a DHCP IP from your ISP, or Netquor Backbone.
Get certified by a Netquor Engineer
Send the agent's certification report. An engineer reviews your networking before you can list.
You're on the market
Buyers size a VM and you keep 88% every month. Hello, side hustle.
DIY (WireGuard)
Bring your own endpoint and tunnel your VM to it. You run the plumbing.
DHCP IP
Does your ISP offer multiple WAN IPs? Assign unused DHCP WAN addresses to VMs.
Netquor Backbone
A static IP over the Netquor backbone (AS403008), routed to the closest PoP.
Subject to your ISP's ToS. This is a small project: all traffic originates from the host's connection, and you are responsible for traffic your VM sends from this network. Take a look at the Security Portal to learn more.

Estimated earnings
The 12% fee funds the platform, support and community. Where does it go?
Assumes 60% of capacity rented at a typical mix. UPS, fiber and a backup connection each raise your multiplier. You don't need all three.
Connect Proxmox
On your node, create a restricted API token and a cloud-init template:
pveum user add ash@pve pveum aclmod /vms -user ash@pve -role PVEVMAdmin pveum user token add ash@pve agent --privsep 0 qm template 9000 # cloud-init base image
The PoC simulates the Proxmox calls in your browser; no credentials are collected.

How traffic, responsibility and isolation work on All Source Hosting.
Subject to your ISP's ToS. This is a small project: all traffic originates from the host's connection, and you are responsible for traffic your VM sends from this network.
Traffic is yours
Outbound traffic leaves from the host's ISP connection. Whoever runs the VM answers for what it sends, and hosts answer to their ISP.
Check your ToS
Many residential plans restrict hosting or resale. Read your ISP's terms before listing a lab.
Keep tenants apart
Put tenant VMs on their own VLAN behind the virtual router, away from your personal LAN and management network.
Egress via your endpoint
With a WireGuard tunnel, traffic exits at an endpoint you control, so it carries your IP and your responsibility.
Host ISP address
The VM uses a spare address from the host's ISP, so its traffic is attributed to the host's connection.
Dedicated static IP
The VM's traffic is routed over the Netquor backbone with a static address.

Draft PoC docs. Commands target Proxmox VE 8 and VyOS 1.4 (sagitta); test on a non-production node first. Subject to your ISP's ToS, and you are responsible for traffic your VMs send from your network. Security Portal
1. Plan your network
You need Proxmox VE 8+, an ISP connection, and a bridge for tenant VMs that is separate from your home network. The VyOS router sits between them, so tenants can reach the internet but never your LAN.
ISP modem ── vmbr0 (WAN) ──┐
│ eth0
[ VyOS router VM ]
│ eth1
vmbr1 (tenant, VLAN-aware, no physical port)
│ │ │
tenant VM tenant VM tenant VM
- Required: 2+ vCPU and 2 GB RAM free for the router, a spare IP range for tenants (default
10.77.0.0/24). - Optional, and priced in: UPS (consumer or online) and a second ISP for failover. Be honest on the listing; engineers verify it.
2. Create the bridges
vmbr0 is probably your existing bridge to the ISP. Add vmbr1 with no physical ports. Edit /etc/network/interfaces on the node:
auto vmbr1
iface vmbr1 inet manual
bridge-ports none
bridge-stp off
bridge-fd 0
bridge-vlan-aware yes
bridge-vids 2-4094
ifreload -a
Do not give the Proxmox host an address on vmbr1. Tenants must not be able to reach the hypervisor.
3. Create a scoped API token
pveum role add ASHAgent -privs "VM.Allocate VM.Audit VM.Config.CPU VM.Config.Memory VM.Config.Disk VM.Config.CDROM VM.Config.Network VM.Config.Options VM.PowerMgmt Datastore.AllocateSpace Datastore.Audit Sys.Audit SDN.Use" pveum user add ash@pve pveum aclmod / -user ash@pve -role ASHAgent pveum user token add ash@pve agent --privsep 0
Copy the secret once. If preflight reports permission errors, add the missing privilege to the role. Never paste the token into a website. The agent reads it from an environment variable.
4. Build and run the agent
The agent is a dependency-free Go program in the agent/ folder (Go 1.22+).
cd agent go build -o ash-agent . export ASH_PVE_URL=https://pve.lan:8006 export ASH_PVE_TOKEN='ash@pve!agent=<secret>' export ASH_PVE_NODE=pve ./ash-agent preflight --insecure # --insecure only for a self-signed cert
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
vyos-config | Renders the VyOS config offline. Needs no Proxmox. |
preflight | Read-only checks: PVE version, bridges, VLAN-aware tenant bridge, VyOS VM. |
deploy-vyos | Creates and starts the VyOS VM, and writes the config files. |
certify-request | Runs the checks and writes certify-request.json with a request ID. |
Add --dry-run to any command that changes things to see the exact Proxmox API calls without sending them.
5. Deploy VyOS
Get the VyOS 1.4 ISO from VyOS (check their licensing and verify the checksum) and upload it to your ISO storage. Then:
./ash-agent deploy-vyos --dry-run --wireguard # review first ./ash-agent deploy-vyos --iso local:iso/vyos-1.4-generic-amd64.iso --wireguard
This creates a VM with eth0 on vmbr0 (WAN) and eth1 on vmbr1 (tenants) and writes ash-out/vyos-bootstrap.sh. The file is mode 0600 because it holds the WireGuard private key. Finish the install on the VM console:
login: vyos / vyos install image # follow the prompts, then reboot # after reboot, paste the contents of vyos-bootstrap.sh # (or use --cloud-init-snippet with a VyOS cloud-init image and user-data.yaml)
What the generated config sets up:
- eth0 gets DHCP from your ISP; eth1 is
10.77.0.1/24with a DHCP server (.100 to .250). - Source NAT masquerade for the tenant range out of eth0.
- Stateful firewall, default-drop on forwarding. Tenants may go to the internet but are blocked from 10/8, 172.16/12 and 192.168/16, which protects your home LAN.
- With
--wireguard:wg0on UDP 51820, and a firewall rule opening it on the WAN.
set interfaces ethernet eth1 address 10.77.0.1/24 set nat source rule 100 translation address masquerade set firewall ipv4 forward filter default-action drop set firewall ipv4 forward filter rule 10 destination group network-group PRIVATE set firewall ipv4 forward filter rule 10 action drop
If your own LAN uses a range other than the defaults, use --tenant-cidr so tenants do not overlap it.
6. Pick connectivity
| Option | Setup | Price to buyer |
|---|---|---|
| DIY (WireGuard) | Run the agent with --wireguard. Add a wg0 peer per buyer using the commented lines in the config. Traffic exits where their endpoint is. | Included |
| DHCP IP | Requires an ISP that hands out more than one WAN address. Assign unused DHCP WAN addresses to buyer VMs. | +$1.00/mo |
| Netquor Backbone | Your Netquor Engineer gives you the backbone settings during certification. Buyers get a static IP over the Netquor backbone (AS403008), routed to the closest PoP: Chicago, Dallas, New York or Kansas City. A Fargo PoP is coming soon. | from $3.50/mo |
7. Test it
- Create a test VM on
vmbr1(use a VLAN tag if you like). It should get a10.77.0.xlease. ping 1.1.1.1and a DNS lookup must work.pingyour home router and another LAN device. These must fail.- If you list a second ISP or a UPS, be ready to demonstrate it: unplug the primary link, and pull mains power if you can safely.
8. Get certified by a Netquor Engineer
Your host must be certified by a Netquor Engineer before it can be listed.
./ash-agent certify-request --insecure # writes ash-out/certify-request.json and prints a request ID
Send that file to your engineer. They review the report (PVE version, bridges, tenant isolation, VyOS running) together with your test results, and confirm any UPS or failover claims. Fix any FAIL line and re-run. The request ID changes whenever the results change.
9. Go live
After sign-off, list the host in Sell your lab. It appears on the marketplace with a Netquor Certified badge. Hello, side hustle.
Monitoring, uptime and maintenance
Monitoring is on by default. The agent exposes host metrics to a Grafana dashboard and our in-house management platform, including ISP downtime monitoring so local outages are detected and attributed correctly.
- Requirements: hosts are subject to incident and uptime requirements. Repeated incidents or missed targets can affect your listing.
- Maintenance windows: set a weekly window when you list (day, start time in UTC, length). Buyers see it on your listing and on My VMs, and get proactive notifications before it starts.
- Multiplier: UPS, fiber and a backup connection each raise your price multiplier. You don't need all three.
- Peers: link your lab with another certified lab in your city. Linked labs appear on each other's listing.
This section describes the intended platform. The PoC agent does not yet ship metrics, and the dashboards on the home page are illustrative.
Commitment and delisting
When you list, you commit for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. Buyers see your commitment date on your listing, so a longer commitment is a trust signal. You can't delist until the commitment is over.
After that you can delist any time. If tenants are still running on your lab, you pick another certified lab with enough room and migrate them first. They are notified ahead of time and keep their price.
The Netquor backbone
Netquor operates AS403008 with points of presence in Chicago, Dallas, New York and Kansas City. IPaaS addresses and the Netquor Backbone connectivity option are routed to the PoP closest to you. From Fargo to Chicago, latency starts as low as 24 ms. A Fargo PoP is coming soon, and we're looking for colo partners there.
Start a colo or local cloud
Want to run more than a homelab? Find a partner on the Partners board, then list as a Local Cloud in Sell your lab. Local Cloud hosts get an additional badge on the marketplace. The same certification, commitment and monitoring rules apply.
Netquor helps sponsor Local Clouds and can provide an ASN and arrange IP lease or assignment, and more. Tick "Request Netquor sponsorship" when you list, and your Netquor Engineer will follow up during certification.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause |
|---|---|
401 or 403 from the agent | Wrong token string or missing privilege on the role. The token format is user@realm!id=secret. |
x509 error | Self-signed Proxmox cert. Use --insecure or install a trusted cert. |
| Tenant VM gets no lease | The VM is not on vmbr1, or the VyOS eth1 or DHCP config was not committed. |
| Tenants have no internet | eth0 has no DHCP lease, or the NAT rule names the wrong WAN interface. |
| Tenant reaches your LAN | The firewall config was not committed, or the tenant range overlaps your LAN. Change --tenant-cidr. |
vyos_running fails | The VM must be named vyos* and be started. |
